Retro Doodle Sun Catcher - Digital File

Mid Century Modern design utilizing a combination of wood and acrylic. Make a stunning decoration for your window and great gift for housewarming, mother's day, birthdays or Christmas! Great use of acrylic scraps as well! Fit small pieces in the empty spaces of your larger cuts. The wood frame measures approximately 2.6 x 7.7 inches so you are able to fit multiple on one glowforge sized sheet of material.

Crafted from a combination of wood and transparent acrylic. These sun catchers are designed for the acrylic to snap into place without glue needed. Please note you may need to make an adjustment to the acrylic inlays if your machine's kerf differs from the pre adjusted size I have provided in the the file. The kerf adjustment I used was .0085 inches.

When assembling, be sure to have your acrylic inlay pieces flat against the opening. Press firmly, without bending or putting too much pressure on the wood frame. You should hear a creaky sound as you press the acrylic into the wood frame. It should be a snug fit.

I used suction cups purchased on Amazon from hanging them on the window.

My samples are cut from 1/4" hardwood veneer material and finished with gloss polyacrylic sealant.

This set includes cut files for laser cutters such as Flux Beam Box or Glowforge. It is designed for 1/4" material with 1/8" acrylic, you could use 1/8" wood, but it will not be quite as strong for pressing the inlays into the frame and may result in more breakage. This file was cut and tested on my OmTech 60w laser cutter and can be used with any CNC machine.
